Stone Pony Fundraiser Set To Benefit
Elizabeth Burns

Elizabeth, a Cedar Grove Elementary student, has had multiple organ transplants — a first kidney replacement in 2004, followed in 2009 by another kidney as well as a liver transplant.  The family continues to struggle under mounting medical bills and The Music Academy has planned a fundraiser to benefit Elizabeth and her family.

More information and tickets are available at www.themusicacademy.net

Jesse Carbonaro, High School North student, dies in tragic accident

It's never easy when a young life is taken from us.  Never easy to understand.  Jesse Carbonaro was a fine young man.  His smile lit up a room and his quiet demeanor betrayed the warmth of his personality.  And now he is gone.  We'll miss Jesse for sure but his classmates and school mates will be hurting.  Please take a moment and visit RIP Jesse Carbonaro on Facebook.  One of the young men or women posting their thoughts of sadness there might very well be your own child.  They'll need you too during this incredibly difficult time.

QUOTES TO LIVE BY

March 19th

1916 First U.S. air combat mission begins
On this day in 1916, the First Aero Squadron, organized in 1914 after the outbreak of World War I, flies a support mission for the 7,000 U.S. troops who, six days earlier, had invaded Mexico on President Woodrow Wilson's orders to capture Mexican revolutionary Francisco Pancho Villa dead or alive.

1945 Fromm executed for plot against Hitler
On this day, the commander of the German Home Army, Gen. Friedrich Fromm, is shot by a firing squad for his part in the July plot to assassinate the Fuhrer. The fact that Fromm's participation was half-hearted did not save him.

2003 War in Iraq begins
On this day in 2003, the United States, along with coalition forces primarily from the United Kingdom, initiates war on Iraq. Just after explosions began to rock Baghdad, Iraq's capital, U.S. President George W. Bush announced in a televised address, "At this hour, American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger."

Nature is just enough; but men and women must comprehend and accept her suggestions.
Antoinette Brown Blackwell (1825 - 1921)

Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices - just recognize them.
Edward R. Murrow (1908 - 1965), television broadcast, December 31, 1955

The policy of being too cautious is the greatest risk of all.
Jawaharlal Nehru (1889 - 1964)

Who would have guessed it possible that waiting is sustainable. A place with its own harvest.
Kay Ryan
